Pnau are a pretty big deal now-a-days. They have four brilliant albums with a bunch of singles and a heap of international credit under their very heavy belts.

These stage-dominating Sydney boys are not only making awesome tunes, they kick back with Elton John when he is not gallivanting around New York and work hard in the studio. In November, the London-based duo will return to play in their home country, including an appearance at Foreshore on November 26.

The finalists for Sound Search 2011 have now been announced.

In the Wagga competition, congratulations to DJs Ben Penfold, DJ ARKIT3K, Not Enough DJ’s and bands Mannequins, Ashes to Fall, 12 A.

Before their national tour, we chatted with guitarist Pete Gillies from Sydney’s youth pop-rock band New Empire. The four-piece has steadily climbed Aussie music charts, recently knocking The Beatles "1" from the top spot of the Australian iTunes best-sellers with their new album "Symmetry".

"That was a true honour, and regardless of context, that was ridiculously awesome. Let’s hope it stays up there," says Pete.

Canberra’s longest running music festival, Stonefest, has announced that this year’s event at the end of October has changed.

The previously announced lineup including The Vines, Jebediah, The Grates, Josh Pyke, Jonathan Boulet, Stonefield, Owl Eyes, Lanie Lane, Hunting Grounds, Big Scary and 360 will instead be replaced with a smaller event.

Despite the new name, Stonefest ‘Rock On’ Party, the new lineup is missing all of its rock and indie acts, and instead features a lineup of dance and hip hop.
