4 Key Trends This Season

Winter is officially upon us! We thought you might be looking for some ideas to update your wardrobe to reflect the change, stay warm and most of all remain stylish and on-trend.

Here are the 4 Key Pieces we've seen come straight off the runway and onto the streets lately.

1. Capes

They're warm, fashionable and very very versatile! The cape isn't too over the top and can be worn with a casual outfit. We have seen many coats and jackets being used like a cape (sleeveless) of late and love the effortless yet super chic look it gives an outfit!

2. A Knit Sweaterdress

For those days when you simply cannot imagine pulling on another pair of pants, go for a sweaterdress. Choose a form-fitting one for a dressier look or rock a more relaxed version for the weekends over a pair of tights or opaque stockings.

3. Denim

Denim and Chambray are HUGE! Worn together works great for a cool street style look and goes very well with any other shade or bright pop of colour. The good news is, denim keeps you warm and skinny styles can be tucked into boots very easily!

4. Knee Hight Boots

Warm and chic—two main qualities we look for in cold-weather footwear—come together with the perfect pair of knee-high boots. Flat styles are great for strolling around at the weekend farmers markets and heeled versions are great for dressy occasions.

Casual Chic for Autumn

Dressing for Autumn is a favourite among many, as it's not too cold and it's not too warm! Therefore, you are able to layer using cardigans, coats and scarves but you can also show a bit of skin without freezing!

We love this casual chic street look which has been dressed up with a pair of blue/black pumps. The denim jeans have been cuffed at the ankle (this also elongates the leg) and paired with a light green collared shirt and blue cardigan. The brown bag is a standout and goes great with the model's auburn hair.

Workout In Style

Founded by Australian Fashion Designer Jodhi Meares, The Upside is the newest and trendiest 'everybodys-wearing-it' yoga and active wear brand that reflects the changing values and needs of modern day society.

The current 'face' and ambassador for the brand is none other than Super-Model and Victoria's Secret Angel, Candice Swanepoel… She sure does help with that little thing called 'motivation'!

After 15 years in the Yoga industry, Jodhi saw the need for active wear that was not only functional but looked great in and out of the studio, on the mat and running along the beach. "The Upside was born of a vision of how we believe women and men will dress in the future as we value the need to move, stretch, run and be still as much as the need to eat, sleep, work and play" - Jodhi.

The Upside brand includes contemporary eco-friendly styles with a strong emphasis on health and spiritual pursuit. We love the diverse range of colours and patterns, especially the leopard yoga tights!

Mum Style: Affordable and Trendy

By Jemma Mrdak

Considering it was Mother's Day on Sunday (and what a glorious day it was!), our Style Stalker this week features a gorgeous Canberra mother.

This weekend, Annette was spotted sporting the UK's King of style, Gok Wan's latest collection of affordable-yet-stylish fashion from none other than Target. Yes, you read it correctly! Annette's beautiful Chanel-esque blazer and chiffon shirt are from Target, and don't they look perfect paired together over the black capri style pants and wedged shoes?

Sometimes it's great to mix high end designer with affordable fashion. There are some excellent collaborations being released lately between stylists/ designers, and high street stores with Gok Wan for Target being one of them! Check it out the entire collection at the Canberra Centre.

Blazer: Gok Wan for Target

Pants: Diana Ferrari

Shoes: Lipstick

Bag: Mimco

Spotted: Little Jane Lane

Rachel, a fashion-forward CIT fashion student and designer behind label Little Jane Lane, caught our eye at the Opening Night of Fashfest 2014.

We loved her outfit - perfect for Winter and keeping her warm, comfortable and most importantly 'stylish'!

Her hand-made Little Jane Lane flower crown was a chic touch paired with her edgy black, white and floral patterned dress from label Backstage. A cute vintage clutch and a pair of black bootie heels from Oroton completed Rachel's fantastic outfit.

We thought she nailed the 'effortless designer' look perfectly.
