Floriade 2015 @ Commonwealth Park

Floriade – Australia’s biggest celebration of Spring – returns to Canberra for the 28th year from Saturday 12 September until Sunday 11 October 2015.

This iconic event showcases one million flowers in bloom throughout Canberra’s Commonwealth Park and entry is free. The event welcomes more than 400,000 local, interstate and international visitors each year.

Treasures Gallery @ National Library of Australia

The Treasures Gallery exhibits the Library’s most celebrated items. They illustrate some of the nation’s greatest stories, from Cook and Bligh’s epic voyages to the death of Burke and Wills in central Australia and the Mabo land rights case. Recently refreshed, the gallery features one of the earliest drawings of the polar bear, the first European depiction of an Australian bird, a book of verse inscribed by Henry Lawson to his wife and a bookcase carved by the young Dorothea Mackellar. It also displays the recently listed Memory of the World Gallipoli Letter written by Keith Murdoch in 1915.
