Stonefest 2010 @ University of Canberra

The Frontier Touring Company, in association with the University of Canberra's entertainment division UC LIVE!, are thrilled to be hosting another anticipated Stonefest Festival, scheduled for Saturday 30 October 2010 at the University of Canberra. Stonefest has previously hosted an array of highly reputable local and international artists including Cut Copy, The Waifs, Paul Kelly (Stonefest 2007), Faker, Grinspoon, The Dandy Warhols (2008), Josh Pyke, Children Collide, British India, The Living End and Birds of Tokyo (2009).

Austen Tayshus presents Season of Comedy at Casino Canberra. Every Thursday from 14 October to 2 December you can catch great comedy with Austen Tayshus and two new support comedians, every week. This Thursday (October 21) Greg Kimball and James Priest will take to the stage for 90 minutes worth of laughs.


Amy Meredith @ The Maram

Tuggeranong turned up in force to support rising pop-kings, Amy Meredith. Performing at the newly refurbished, Maram, the group were touring their debut album Restless. Opening the evening were Dirty Secrets and The Take. Both bands ably supported Amy Meredith and mostly succeeded in luring the crowds towards the stage. Dirty Secrets in particular performed well with their blend of nu-wave rock, infusing driving beats with the melodic vocals of lead-singer, Jarrah McCleary.

Review: Cirque Mother Africa @ Canberra Theatre Centre

It was a melting pot of African culture and circus theatrics as the Canberra Theatre welcomed Mother Africa to its stage. Combining explosive acrobats, energetic dances, traditional music and much more, Mother Africa certainly lived up to its description as a 'Circus of the Senses'. The show combined the talents of entertainers from nine African countries, who leapt and performed to the audiences' delight.


An Evening Frocktacular @ Thoroughbred Park

Canberrans frocked up in masses and made their way to 'An Evening Frocktacular' at Thoroughbred Park, Thursday 7 October. The event, hosted by Frocktober Canberra and Thoroughbed Park, successfully raised $3500 for the Ovarian Canberra Research Foundation. Frocks by local designers, boutiques and milliners walked the runway, including; Hats by Trish, JASH, Sofia Polak and Angela Menz. Canberra's Roller Derby Leauge also made an appearance, modelling vintage pieces from the collection of Katherine Horak - on wheels!
