It is January and you are wondering what 2015 will bring. You might not be certain about everything, but you can be assured that 17 – 22 of March will be the funniest week of the year with the Canberra Comedy Festival in town. Tickets are already on sale to over 50 shows at www.canberracomedyfestival.com.au.

Patrick Hornby from the Festival Team says, “We have had a great response. I think people now know the festival is a genuine comedy extravaganza. Last year, the Opening Night Gala in the 1200-seat Canberra Theatre was huge and this year it’s almost completely sold out! Already!”

The Gala is always a hot ticket with its star-studded line-up, but it’s not the only show that has got comedy fans excited. Big names like Jason Byrne (UK), The Umbilical Brothers, Akmal, Urzila Calrson (RSA/NZ), John Safran, Bane Trilogy (UK), Peter Helliar, Cal Wilson, Wil Sylvince (US), Sarah Kendall (UK), Dave Thornton, Tommy Little, Ronny Chieng, Sammy J & Randy, Sparrow Folk and a whole lot more are coming.

If you would like a sneak preview of what on offer, come along to the Festival Program Launch @ Dendy Cinemas on 2 February. For $20.00 you will be a VIP with drinks and cocktail food included in the price. You will be the first to hear some big announcements and then you will get to see a comedy show that will provide a taste of what’s on offer during the festival. Tickets are on sale from the festival website, but move quickly as there only a handful available.

Patrick says the team are keen to showcase how big the festival will be. He told us, “We’ve made sure the festival taps into the vibrancy of the nightlife in the city centre, while adding to it with shows that will get you laughing so hard you’ll need to take the next week off to recover. We’ll clear it with the boss if you like.”

Looks like in March Canberra will live up to its reputation as a bit of a funny place… and for good reason!
