There’s something incredibly satisfying about a hearty Sunday lunch; sitting around with family and friends, laughing, catching up and sending yourself into a food coma.

While you’re all around the table, the thought of going back to work the next day seems far away – until you’re faced with a tea towel and the massive task of washing up.

In the mood for a Sunday feast without the effort, I headed along to the Sunday Roast Buffet at One Restaurant and Bar.

Located upstairs from reception at the Novotel on Northbourne Avenue, One Restaurant and Bar is a modern and relaxed venue, offering a real sense of calm a million miles away from the hustle and bustle outside.

For $49.50 per adult and $15 per child (under 12 years), the Sunday Roast Buffet offers a generous spread of salads, seafood, roast meats, vegetables and desserts.

The salad bar includes a range of delicious options, and was stocked with Tomato and Fetta Tossed Salad, Antipasto Salad, Thai Beef Salad and Cucumber Zucchini Salad, and surrounded by endless jars of condiments.

A favourite of many visitors, the seafood bar was loaded up with fresh prawns and oysters.

The main hot food bar offers a hearty selection, just that little bit more decadent than your average Sunday feast, including Roast Chicken Cutlets with Tomato Salsa, Roast Lamb Leg with Braised Mirepoix and Tomato Sauce, Roast Beef with Seasonal Mustard White Wine Sauce, Roast Vegetables with Red Wine Eschallots, Steamed Broccoli with Garlic Butter, topped off with warm crusty bread.

The extensive spread includes delicious options for everyone, and while it was tempting to fill my plate up each trip to the buffet, there was always the dessert table luring me from the side.

Desserts included Chocolate Mud Cake, Mango and Macadamia Cheese Cake and Chocolate Cream Cheese Cake, a scoop of delicious mango sorbet, plus a selection of Australian cheeses, dried fruit and crackers.

And once you’ve eaten until you can eat no more, the friendly staff will clear your table, without a tea towel in sight.
