The blog, They All Hate Us was born from a shared love of all things fashion, lifestyle and inspirations between two best friends – Tash Sefton and Elle Ferguson. They’ve since become widely popular for their individual and familiar style and have over 155k loyal followers on Instagram.

We caught up with the stylish duo from Sydney ahead of their fashion workshop alongside Luc Wiesman at Canberra Centre.

How did you both meet?
Elle: Tash and I met when we were working together in the same office, Tash as the head of womanswear and myself the head of visual merchandising.

Do you both still work full-time while running They All Hate Us? How do you find juggling everything including time for family and friends too?
Elle: Tash and I are proud to say we work full time on They All Hate us… 24/7 and absolutely LOVE it. We are lucky that our family support us 100% and the funny thing is the majority of our friends actually work in the industry too, so they get that this is non stop.

Describe a day in the life of Elle and Tash.
Elle: There is no one day that is ever the same in the They All Hate Us world. However, we always do two blog posts a day, one in the morning and one in the evening. We might be on location shooting for our shop or a tv commercial, we could be travelling overseas or interstate… the opportunities are endless and that’s whats so amazing and so fun about this crazy world.

What are your everyday beauty routines?
Elle: always a weekly spray tan and I swear by dry shampoo… I cant live without it. And if my house was burning down my curling wand would be coming with me.

Tash: I moisturise every part of my bod morning and night, get a blow dry once a week and a spray tan!

Who are your all time favourite Australian designers?
Elle: I cant go past One Teaspoon for the best denim shorts and then Bassike for everything else, they just get Australian laid back cool.

Tash: Scanlan Theodore & Camilla and Marc because I can buy investment pieces and wear them season after season. I also love Bassike for its simplicity.

What are the five wardrobe essentials you couldn’t live without?
Elle:
1 – Denim shorts
2 – A crisp white mens dinner shirt
3 – Black pointy ballet flats
4 – An amazing hand bag
5 – Baby Anything jewellery

Tash:
1. My distressed jeans
2. A Chanel handbag
3. Céline sunglasses
4. My husbands White Gap t shirts
5. My trainers (Yeezy boost, Adidas, Chanel)

Who or which brand would be the ultimate collaboration for They All Hate Us?
Elle: ha ha ha ha I know Tash will say Chanel!

Tash: ahahaha yes Chanel! Could you imagine!!

Do you both take pictures of each other for blog and Instagram posts? If so, do you have any pointers for getting the perfect shot?
Elle: Of course Tash and I help each other out with Instagram photos but we have an amazing professional photographer that takes all our blog post shots. My current obsession on Instagram though would be in the photo editor the filter ‘fade’.

Tash: yes yes but I also use a tripod and a photo timing app. For when I’m alone

Where do you see yourselves in five years? Is there a BIG goal or achievement you are both striving for and working on for the next stage of They All Hate Us?
Elle: I would be so incredibly proud if in five years time They All Hate Us is still going strong and people are still as interested in what we have to say today…
Tash: our online store has been an amazing success so we are very excited to keep this a focus and growing. We ship globally and it’s very cool we send Australian brands to all corners of the globe

Have you both been to Canberra before? If so, where do you like to eat/drink/visit?
Elle: I have been to Canberra many times before (go the Raiders!!!)… I actually love the art gallery and there is a thai restaurant in the middle of town that has THE best coconut ice cream I have ever tasted.

Tash: yes ! I always come to see exhibitions at the galleries and Questacon is my kids fav place to go. Love HotelHotel to stay and Hyatt in Canberra has the best high tea.
