A little piece of Hollywood will hit Canberra next weekend when the 11th annual Lights! Canberra! Action! film festival returns to the capital.

Every year Lights! Canberra! Action! gives budding filmmakers just 10 days to write, shoot, edit and produce a seven-minute Canberra-centric film around a theme and 10 specific items.

Participants are now in the middle of creating their films and the finalists will screen on Friday 7 March as part of Enlighten 2014.
“This year, local filmmakers have the opportunity to produce a Canberra-centric short film along the theme of ‘Brilliant Possibilities’,” Lights! Canberra! Action! spokeswoman Dianne Ireland said.

“Adding a fun twist to the event – and an additional challenge for the filmmakers – there is also a list of items that must be included in each film.”
This year’s theme is Brilliant Possibilities, and the 10 items – of which filmmakers must include three – are:

1. WiFi Symbol
2. Blank Canvas/blank piece of paper
3. Stars
4. A smart phone
5. An empty road
6. Angel of the North sculpture at NGA
7. Old light post (Forrest/Reid etc)
8. Academy of Science Shine Dome
9. Black Mountain Tower
10. UNA sculpture at the ANU

Lights! Canberra! Action! is a free outdoor event. Bring your chair or bean bag, blanket and movie snacks, and settle in for a great night of film viewing.

Afterwards, wander through the Parliamentary Triangle and enjoy Enlighten’s stunning architectural projections.
