Les Bistronomes is located on Eloura Street, replacing what was once Delissio, and has quickly become part of the ‘Braddon Bunch’. Though, this French bistro boasts its own Parisian cool through a relaxed approach to dining.

Head Chef and co-owner, Clement Chauvin utilises his creative cooking style to present a simple and traditional French menu; and while classic Gallic cooking is the basis for Les Bistronomes, look out for a few twists along the way.

This is a great place to take your tastebuds on tour. Unless you are familiar with the ingredients of French cuisine it’s fun to choose a three-course meal with only broad idea of what you’ll be receiving. Also, the menu is designed like a postcard – also helping to transport you to France for a few hours.

The Pissaladière – a Caramelised Onion & Anchovy Tart – is a Les Amuses Gueules (pre-entrée to share) – and the perfect example of a dish you probably didn’t expect once it lands on your table. It’s more cake-like than a soft tart, but is delicious all the same.

For entrée, the Salade Nicoise (say nee-swahs) which is a tasty and traditional combination of tuna, potato, French Beans, olives, capsicum and egg. This dish is gorgeously presented and filled with so much colour – it looks almost too good to eat! But once you stop staring and feel your tummy rumbling the flavours will take over.

If you’re looking for a fresh and light choice for entrée (or something perfect for lunch) and you’re feeling daring, try the Escargot Et Fillet De Porc en Persillade – Garlic Snails & Pork Loin with Parsley Cream – Yum! Don’t be put off…!

Now for the Les Plats (mains), and there are a few options including the Fish of the Day and a Goats Cheese Soufflé. One that is likely to catch your eye (and for good reason) is the Bavette De Boeuf A L’Echalotte Et Sauce Bordelaise – a juicy grilled and sliced Hanger Steak with French Eshallots and a red wine jus. It’s a generous serving and a fantastic option for dinner.

All great meals should be finished with a sweet dessert. The perfect choice is the Crème Brulée A La Vanille which is cooked to perfection in a larger-than-usual ceramic pot. Once you crack the crust, it’s warm and creamy and the toffee pieces offer a crunchy feel. It’s absolutely melt-in-your-mouth amazing!

The wine list, compiled by co-owner and ex-Sage sommelier, Abel Bariller, is impressive with a large selection of French wine and Australian favourites. Cocktails, dessert wines and spirits are also available.

Enjoy lunch and dinner from Tuesday to Friday and brunch on Saturdays and Sundays.

Bon appétit!
