Join in the celebration of Japanese culture at the Canberra Nara Candle Festival. This year’s Festival marks the 17th anniversary of the Canberra-Nara sister city relationship and the 1300th anniversary of Japan’s first capital, Nara.

Enjoy six hours of free entertainment, with the Rhythm Hunters headlining the program with their dramatic physical drumming performances.

Martial arts demonstrations, calligraphy, origami and kids craftwork are activities for the entire family to enjoy at this year’s Festival.

Free shuttle busses will be running in the Parliamentary Triangle to Nara Park, so come along and join in the celebrations.

Enjoy entertainment from ACT Senior Concert Band, the combined Canberra Primary Schools Japanese Choir, The ‘Sham-isens’ of Canberra, Burringiri Aboriginal Australia Dance Group, Narrabundah College with Nanchu So-Ran, Manpuku Band, Kojiki- The Living, Nara University High School Choir, Official Ceremony and Candle Lighting, The Rhythm Hunters, The Lachlan Coventry Quartet.
