1. Pack gumboots. Splendour is known to turn into a mud pit by day three, be prepared

2. Don’t wear white. The above mentioned mud pit means it can be hard to stay clean. Wear dark colours so your mates can’t tell how filthy you are.

3. Bring extra pairs of socks. It’ll be cold and your feet will be begging for an extra layer of warmth.

4. Wear sun cream. You don’t want to be that guy who’s bright red in every photo.

5. Pack extra tent pegs. They’re easy to lose and if you don’t need them you can be the legend when you give them to the campsite next to you.

6. Dry shampoo will be your best friend.

7. Bring cash. ATM lines can get ridiculous and the less time waiting in lines means the more time listening to the ace line up.

8. Bring a beanie. Heat escapes through the head so a snug beanie will be your god send when the temperatures drop.

9. Arrange a meeting spot. Phone coverage is hard to come by so pick a place to meet at a certain time in case you get separated from your crew.

10. Don’t forget your ID!

11. If you’re driving don’t forget to make an extensive playlist. It can take ages to get in and out of the festival so listening to tunes will past the time.

12. Bring insect repellent.

13. BYO snacks. Food can be expensive at the festival so stock up on cheap snacks to fuel you through the day.

14. Drink plenty of water.

15. Pace yourself. There’s a long weekend of partying in front of you so take it easy otherwise you’ll burn out.

16. Bring a disposable camera. Selfie sticks are banned; as they should be so don’t bother!

17. Download the Splendour app for all the event maps, line-ups and more.

18. Don’t be a tosser. Byron is a beautiful slice of paradise so respect it by not leaving your rubbish all over the place. If you’re camping bring extra garbage bags.

19. Don’t be afraid to leave the pack. If your friends don’t want to see the same acts as you then you should chase your own schedule. You paid a lot of money to go so make the most of it!

20. Love thy neighbour. Festivals can get cramped and busy but don’t forget to make an effort to get along with everyone and have a weekend you’ll never forget!
