When The Meating Room closed its doors earlier this year, Weston Creek locals were left without a beloved community hub. But there’s good news on the horizon: Weston Bull is set to open in early January 2026, bringing a fresh take on the classic family pub.
Co-director and head chef Bishup Abichandani knows the space well having been a regular at The Meating Room and he now wants to create a venue that keeps the community spirit alive. “This place needs a pub, and the community in this part of Canberra is amazing,” he says.
The menu will be all about hearty, flavour-packed dishes, with steak taking centre stage. The star attraction? A 1.5 kg Tomahawk steak designed for sharing (or for the brave to tackle solo). Alongside the steaks, expect pizzas, burgers, and a few Indian-inspired dishes like beef massaman curry and coconut barramundi, paying homage to Bishup’s heritage.
Families are welcome, with a dedicated kids’ menu and a games room featuring foosball, air hockey, and card games. Each night brings something new, whether that be bingo, live music, or meal specials like $27 steak, chips, and wine on Wednesdays.
On tap, you’ll find a mix of craft beers from local breweries (including Bishup’s favourite, Ginja Ninja from Tumut River Brewing Co) and well-known classics, plus wines from Collector, Clonakilla, and Nick O’Leary. There’s also a lineup of cocktails and mocktails for those skipping the booze.
Weston Bull will open at 45 Liardet Street, Weston, and operate Tuesday to Sunday. Follow Weston Bull on Facebook, Instagram or visit their website for updates and the official opening date.
