Violence begets violence.

When former rodeo champ-turned-motel-owner Sam (Jon Bernthal) befriends Elwood (Christopher Abbott), he is unaware that the young man is responsible for a spate violence that has suddenly gripped their small Alaskan town. Two women (Imogen Poots and Rosemarie DeWitt) are widowed, but all may not be as it seems. The already remote community begins to unravel with the sense of lawlessness and menace that Elwood has brought to town and Sam must face his past and present relationships in order to stand up to this unpredictable predator.

Written by the China brothers whose script featured on the coveted 2012 Black List, SWEET VIRGINIA offers a terse and dark journey – part neo-noir thriller, part latter-day western – filled with haunted souls brought to life by a talented ensemble cast.

“Bernthal is phenomenal…a dark and densely packed chunk of pulp fiction.” – Indiewire

“One of the best thrillers of the year.” – Variety
