Recap: I Thought I Was Not Alone – At The Street Theatre

Last Friday and Saturday nights, stage number one of The Street Theatre was jam-packed full of young Canberra talent. There were singers, rock musicians, classical strings and dancers. Dancers, we were told, who will soon be auditioning for Beyonce’s manager. Inspired by a Walt Whitman line I thought I was not alone, walking by the shore, up-and-coming Canberra band Sidney Creswick combined forces with youth dance program Fresh Funk to bring movement to the songs performed.

Saskwatch – A Night of Funk at Transit Bar

Thank God it’s Friday!

To celebrate, this most wonderful of weekdays, a strong crowd made its way into the subterranean depths of the Transit Bar to see the band Saskwatch that are getting so much hype at the moment.

As we enter, Canberra’s Brass Knuckles Brass Band are getting ready to play. The sight of the bandleader in a pale blue safari suit and pork pie hat exudes a Tremé cool, and is a sign everyone present is in for a great night.

Stonefield at Zierholz

Melbourne based band STONEFIELD which consists of four young ladies – Amy Findlay , Hannah Findlay , Sarah Findlay & Holly Findlay (who are also sisters) are coming to Canberra to celebrate the release of their highly anticipated self-titled album live at Zierholz!

Previously known as Iotah, the band won the 2010 Triple J Unearthed High contest with their song "Foreign Lover". Stonefield is a contemporary take on classic rock ‘n’ roll. A heavy, raw and startlingly mature collection of songs with an overt blues influence.
