It’s every student’s favourite time of year again… O-Week! Kicking off the week before semester two starts, Canberra has plenty on offer to keep you entertained all-week long.

Start off with the classic Wednesday ‘Lighty Tonighty’. After a brutally cold winter, The Lighthouse Rub is back in full swing with themed nights and drink specials from 9pm to 11pm. This Wednesday is the old-school Toy Box-themed night. So dig through your memories (and costume box) for all your old favourite toys and childhood cartoon characters. Maybe you’ll find the Pink Power Ranger to your Blue, because we all know they were meant to be together.

Also competing for attention on Wednesday night is Bow Wow, brought to Canberra by Breeze Clubbing Australia and Simon Friend James Entertainment, for an exclusive show at Academy Club tonight from 8:30pm.
Releasing his first album in 2000 at the age of 13, Bow Wow is now a hip-hop veteran at the age of 29. Signing to a new record label towards the end of last year and currently working on a brand-new album, this is surely one event not-to-miss. Hurry, as tickets are selling fast!

Continuing with the live music theme, Thursday’s got 21-year-old rising star Troye Sivan at the UC Refectory with Nicole Millar. Presented by Frontier Touring and promoting his new album Blue Neighbourhood, Troye has returned back to Australia after a headline tour in the US, UK and Europe. This show is the first one he has played in the Canberra – and we’re sure that O-Week will be one heck of a welcome! Fans can expect to hear some big tracks off his new album ,as well as some old favourites.

Troye’s show, although epic, is just a warm up for a night of non-stop partying. Once you’ve finished up at the Refectory head into Civic for the Double Denim Party at Mr Wolf to recreate that classic Brittany Spears and JT look. With prizes being given out for the best outfit, Mr Wolf is also using this night to raise funds for Jeans For Genes Day, so dig deep in your pockets and donate for a good cause!

All your O-Week partying needs catered for with an epic Friday night on the cards. Mr Wolf is hosting DJ, producer and label manager Benson. He’s been blowing up on stages and clubs across Australia, including sets at Splendour and Stereo. If bass-heavy house music isn’t your thing, Academy Club is bringing you the American trap lord, Party Thieves also on Friday night.

If the clubs aren’t your scene and you want to stay warm without getting sweaty, Beach Burrito is hosting a Pokemon Trivia Night tonight, 3 August, for all you Pokemon Go fanatics out there! Based on the original series, with prizes for best dressed as well as lures being dropped all night, this is an event you won’t want to miss out on. To make a booking, call 62571914 .

After your O-Week comes to a close, cool off with a Sunday sesh at Hopscotch in Braddon and forget about your drunk alter-ego antics during the week as you prepare for the semester ahead.
