Wests @ Turner

Wests is a name synonymous with rugby in the Canberra and Belconnen area.

Wests evolved from the fledgling Lyneham Junior Rugby club of the 1960's and when Wests opened for business on August 10th 1970, it became the first licenced club in the Belconnen region.

On that opening day Wests boasted some of the best facilities that were available in Canberra and to this day it is still the goal they endeavour to maintain.

From the beginning Wests have strived to be a community based club, sponsoring all facets of junior and senior sport and providing support and backup to community based organisations.

Western District Rugby Union Club is also affilaited with ten other clubs making them one of the larger and more successful sporting clubs in Canberra. .
