Canberrans have come together to help the Vikings Group raise awareness for its charity of the year, OzHarvest Canberra, at a Yoga On The Greens event on Wednesday 31 January.

Participating in yoga classes under the stars at the Vikings Club in Tuggeranong, with ticket sales of $20 being donated to OzHarvest, delivers 40 meals to those in need in the Canberra community.

“Community events such as this help link the public to charities and really bring people together,” said OzHarvest Canberra CEO, Dave Burnet.

“They demonstrate that you don’t have to donate a lump of money to help. Even a small one-off donation equivalent to a weekly fitness class, or even a daily coffee makes a huge difference to charities like us…we are thankful to Vikings Group for its support,” said Dave.

This event highlights the importance of OzHarvest and encourages healthy habits in the community.

“Sometimes we get caught up in our day to day lifestyle and forget how important it is to de-stress and find a way to unwind…as we all start to come back from holidays we wanted to begin the year well by supporting OzHarvest and giving out community the opportunity to unwind,” says Vikings Group CEO Anthony Hill.

In 2017 the Vikings Group Charity of the Year Program raised $80,000 for Red Nose. This year, they hope to raise the same kind of money for OzHarvest to support and help people in need.
