Home-grown style

Law and International Relations student Jessica was spotted strolling through Garema Place on her study break.

This student loves to wear unique clothing that she works with her mum to make.

“I am fortunate that my mum is a seamstress. So often we sit together and collaborate on a design that then comes to life once we visit the fabric stores,” says Jessica.

“The overthrow that I am wearing today is actually one of her creations!”

When The Fashion Vault asked Jessica what her go-to item in her wardrobe was, she replied “The boots I am wearing have to be my favourite item. They are versatile and comfortable - what’s not to love about them?”

Understated elegance

On The Fashion Vault's final shoot at New York Fashion Week, roaming photographer Deejay captured Monique.

Monique's style exudes an understated elegance that draws on vintage items.

"I often raid my mother's wardrobe for pieces to wear," Monique says.

"The shorts I am wearing today used to be my mother's. I like the idea that by wearing vintage items, I know I am setting myself apart from others.

"I also love thrift shopping - it's a bit of a thrill. Some days you get lucky and pick up some unique items that fit perfectly, other times you go in and walk out empty handed, but i just love it."

Effortless Manhattan style

This week's style spot comes from Manhattan. The Fashion Vault Style Stalker snapped this doll in between shooting shows a New York Fashion Week 2016.

Miss Louise is the perfect illustration of the effortless combo of a great blazer and boyfriend jeans - a pairing that never goes out of style, worn here casually with flats and a crop.

"To take this look to the evening I would upgrade it with a pair of statement heels and a clutch," Louise says.

Androgynous style

This week OutInCanberra continues the search for New York City's most stylist with The Fashion Vault photographer Deejay.

She snapped up Donavan while in the Upper West Side of Manhattan.

This fashionable human loves to challenge stereotypes and experiments with dressing androgynously - often wearing womens labels.

"I like playing with layering and silhouettes, I wear both mens and womens labels - basically because I don't want to dress like everyone else," he says.

His outfit features Balenciaga boots, AG jeans and an Iro jumper.

OutInCanberra takes on NYC!

The Fashion Vault photographer Deejay is currently abroad in New York City!

While exploring the Upper West Side, by chance she spotted Carla, a New York blogger from The Fashion Mixologist.

Carla’s style perfectly suited the intense heat currently in NYC Wearing an all-white ensemble with pops of colour, Carla’s style is a breeze.

“My favourite brand is a New York local label called Parker, the top I am wearing today is from there," she says.

Carla’s tip for shopping in NYC is, “Head to Century 21 and the Bloomingdale's outlet stores, you will definitely leave with a bargain!”.
