Wanderlust 108 is the world’s first mindful triathlon, and on Saturday 21 October, it’s coming to the Patrick White Lawns in Canberra.

Mindfulness, a practice which emphasises paying attention to the present moment, has swept over the health and wellbeing world, offering relief from stress and anxiety. Mindfulness courses for uni students and professionals have been popping up everywhere, and the practice has been incorporated into therapy for a range of mental health issues.

Putting a spin on the traditional swim-bike-run triathlon, Wanderlust 108 incorporates a 5km run (or walk, up to you), a 90-minute DJ-powered yoga flow class, and a 30-minute meditation session, all aimed at instilling the practice of mindfulness. Nationally recognised teachers and instructors will facilitate all aspects of the event, ensuring you get the most out of your day.

After the triathlon, visit the Mindful Market to view a range of jewellery, essential oils, yoga props and apparel, all designed and created by the best local artisans. If you’re feeling a bit peckish after the morning’s events, then stop by one of the many food vendors, the True North Café, or the kombucha garden to grab a healthy, organic bite to eat.

During the afternoon, you can participate in one of the scheduled activities, such as acroyoga, hooping, aerial yoga, walking meditation, a photography workshop, or an essential oil workshop. Just make sure you sign up in advance!

Want more? A range of bonus field games will be on offer later in the day.

The Wanderlust 108 essentials – a yoga mat and some running/walking shoes – are all you need to bring. Make sure to download the Wanderlust – Find Your True North app, it’ll be your pocket-guide throughout the day, and pack some spare clothing in case you need to stay dry – the event will be on, rain or shine!

Wanderlust 108 will run from 7.00am-3.00pm, on Saturday 21 October. Tickets are currently priced at $40 and can be purchased here, but get in quick as this price will go up.

Bring your friends, partner, or even the kids (children 13 and under are free!). Whether you’re an expert in yoga and meditation, or a first-timer, this event caters to all levels of experience. You’re guaranteed to leave feeling great, and perhaps with a few new friends!
