Canberra is full of creative potential that will be the star of the show at the annual return of Lights! Canberra! Action! this Friday 10 March.

Returning for its 14th year in a row, this free Enlighten event never fails to draw a crowd. Lights! Canberra! Action! is the epicentre of emerging filmmakers to make an appearance and contestants continually stun viewers with what they can create in such a short amount of time.

With ten days to script, shoot and produce a stunning seven-minute video, filmmakers push their creativity to the next level with this competition.

This year camera creatives explore the theme of right. Will they go the right or left way? Maybe they’ll talk about the difference between what is right and wrong. Whatever the direction they go with it, we can’t wait to see what the end result will be for the twelve chosen finalists.

The winners of an award on the night will walk away with a $300 cash prize. An exception to this is the winner of the People Favourite award which is controlled by the public via voting on the LCA website. The prize for this award is to be announced on the Lights! Canberra! Action! Facebook page between March 12-19.

As part of the Enlighten festival, the atmosphere of this event is always amazing. Picnic blankets, popcorn and peppermint lollies are essentials for this event to settle in for the night. Tucked away amongst the amazing arena of the Senate Rose Gardens, the big screen is perfectly placed for a night of entertainment.

Live music will hit the stage at 7pm, while you set in for the film screening at 8pm. Winners of the short film competition will be announced after the screening – making it an entertaining way to see if your favourite wins the competition.

Stepping outside the boundaries of normal theatre viewing, you’ll love this eclectic evening of Canberra entertainment.
