Keen to model in Canberra’s biggest red-carpet fashion event? Get the ‘glitter on’ behind-the-scenes with designers, makeup and hair artists? Be seen on the catwalk being snapped by amazing photographers?

If you’ve got confidence, fluidity of motion and a talent for posing, register for FASHFEST 2016’s model casting, taking place on Sunday 22 May at the National Convention Centre.

FASHFEST 2016 has already smashed last year’s record for model hopefuls heading to the casting to strut their stuff on the makeshift catwalk. This year models will walk to tunes pulled together by FASHFEST’s official music director, Ashley Feraude.

More than 470 models have registered. This makes it the capital’s biggest model casting — ever! If the pace continues, the casting could well hit the 500 mark.

FASHFEST runs ‘open castings’ which means anyone can apply (you need to be at least 16 years of age on the day). You don’t need to be with a modelling agency or have previous experience, just confidence and a belief that you’ve got what it takes to showcase amazing designer fashion. FASHFEST provides training for all models accepted.

This year’s judging panel features Hayley O’Neill, Sydney-based fashion stylist and fashion office coordinator at Marie Claire Australia, who originally hails from Canberra. Internationally renowned photographer Robert Coppa is also on the panel, as are the owners of Canberra’s three top modelling agencies — Andrea Hutchinson of HAUS Models, Tina Nikolovski of Devojka Models, and Victoria Schnable of Victoria’s Models.

The casting is a fun and relaxed day. Models must register in advance and be onsite by 10am sharp. Registering is free, quick and easy. Just head to www.fashfest.com.au
