Jamison’s favourite brunch venue, Ricardo’s café has won the Best Breakfast category and Best Patisserie category at the 2016 ACT Savour Australia Restaurant and Catering Hostplus Awards for Excellence.

Business owner Ricardo De Marco is stoked with the news that he’s North Canberra creation is still on top.

“With new cafés and restaurants opening everywhere on a weekly basis it’s an honour to know we are still at the top and winning awards,” Ricardo says.

“It’s a seven-day-a-week event and our staff are our number one asset – they work around the clock. Every day we are working on new and exciting creations to make sure we stay on top and take things to another level.”

More than 200 local restaurants, cafés and catering businesses gathered to celebrate the achievements of their peers who were judged across 25 categories, with the winners announced at the awards ceremony held at Hyatt Hotel, Canberra.

This is the only program in Australia where the judging criteria is determined by consumers who rank what is important to them in their dining experience.

The awards are judged by an independent team of trained judges who anonymously visit the venues to determine the winners. The scores are based on the entire dining experience from food to the customer service experienced when the judges anonymously dine.

“Ricardo’s cafe should be proud of its achievements. Running a hospitality business isn’t easy – there’s a lot of blood sweat and tears that goes into to making it work. But when you get the right mix of staff, produce and service, the results can be extraordinary,” R&CA CEO John Hart says.

Ricardo’s cafe will compete with other region finalists at the National Savour Australia Restaurant and Catering Hostplus Awards for Excellence to be held at Four Points Sheraton, Darling Harbour in Sydney on Monday 24 October 2016.
