The Treasures Gallery exhibits the Library’s most celebrated items. They illustrate some of the nation’s greatest stories, from Cook and Bligh’s epic voyages to the death of Burke and Wills in central Australia and the Mabo land rights case. Recently refreshed, the gallery features one of the earliest drawings of the polar bear, the first European depiction of an Australian bird, a book of verse inscribed by Henry Lawson to his wife and a bookcase carved by the young Dorothea Mackellar. It also displays the recently listed Memory of the World Gallipoli Letter written by Keith Murdoch in 1915.
10 am–5 pm.

Canberra has never been short of Italian restaurants. In the heart of the city, La Scala was one of the longest lasting and most-loved. After an amazing 25 year run, the familiar space was taken over by the CoCu Group (consisting of nearby Tuckshop and Shorty’s, among others) to redevelop the space into another Italian restaurant that Canberrans could fall in love with. Welcome to Provini!
