Con’s Steak and Seafood Restaurant
A family favourite since 1972, this Mawson restaurant was fully restored in late 2011. But the character of the restaurant remains. The yellow lights of its Heritage sign still begin blinking every evening as the sun sets on Mawson Drive. Inside, the classic red leather cocktail bar glistens. Con's live lobster tank is the only one found in the ACT.
Con's has always been synonymous with fresh seafood and prime beef tenderloin. Today it serves as much beef steak as fish. The old favourites such as their famous hot and cold seafood platter for two and live lobster from the tank are still served, but the menu now boasts an assortment of beef, chicken and pork specials.
The recipes are the original recipes developed by the chefs from 1972-82. Con's still makes its own delicious sauces. There are no frozen, canned or dried vegetables, soups, or sauces. There is no attempt to be anything other than what it is: authentically old fashioned.
Con's Steak and Seafood Restaurant is fully licensed (no BYO) with an extensive menu of vintage cocktails. Try a 'Fluffy Duck,' a ‘Brandy Alexander’ or a ‘Golden Dream.'
