We have a local Canberran entrant in Miss World Australia! April Goldsby, originally from Tuggeranong, is taking part in the state final of Miss World Australia while raising money for Variety Australia: the Children’s Charity.

“I’m inspired by the work of Variety Australia and wanted to support them by raising money as part of my participation in Miss World Australia 2017. The Variety Children’s Charity is an amazing charity helping children every day, this is something that I am extremely passionate and want to raise funds to help these children,” April says.

Starting her modelling career at 16, the now 18-year-old is living, and loving life in Melbourne and signed to Brazen Models.

April has moved to Melbourne to further her calling for modelling, which is why she will be competing in the state finals for Victoria, nevertheless, being Canberra born and bred, we’re still rootin’ for her!

The state finals will be held in June of this year with the national final being crowned the following month. And by crowned, we mean literally crowned – the winner receives a $45,000 crown from Phuket Pearls, and not to mention a luxury holiday to Thailand.

April has done work with big name brands like Billabong and also smaller online boutiques. However, Goldsby has said her earliest and greatest achievement to date was doing editorial work for Elle Magazine in Vietnam – but will winning Miss World Australia be her next greatest achievement?

Currently, April is back home in Canberra to focus on her fundraising activities, as she knows what a tight-knit family we all are in the nation’s capital.
