We’re sure you’ve already heard the hottest news on the street – but if you’re not in the loop yet, Boy George is coming to Canberra for the official opening of Kokomo’s this Friday night 2 June!

The British singer, DJ and ‘80s icon will be performing one of his famous DJ sets from 9 pm at the new and funky hotspot in the heart of the CBD.

Kokomo’s has officially raised the bar in the local hospitality and entertainment scene by scoring a gig from the Boy himself, cementing it as the nightlife destination to beat in town.

“Kokomo’s is passionate about raising the standards of hospitality and entertainment in Canberra and to show our commitment to doing this we thought what better way than to bring such an iconic musician to this town,” Kokomo’s Functions and Events Manager Alex Badham says.

“Boy George fits the style of the venue perfectly and we are so excited to welcome him this Friday night.”

A fresh mix between a restaurant, bar and club is exactly what Canberra needed and with Kokomo’s chilled and laid-back vibes, as well as its Pacific fusion influence, the $4.5 million venue is already living up to its name.

Boy George is currently based in Sydney as a judge on The Voice Australia, which has certainly heightened the response to Kokomo’s official launch! Entry is from 8 pm onwards, with George playing from 9pm–10.30pm.

“Friday’s going to be an experience Canberra has never seen before. Boy George in an intimate setting – this is the event for Canberra,” Alex says.

If you are one of the lucky few you get your hands on a ticket to the much-anticipated sold-out performance, we envy you!

“To sell out within hours of opening ticket sales was thrilling and so exciting,” Alex adds.

This is truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience for the capital. Enjoy Canberra!
