Belluci’s Dickson and Sub-Urban by Belluci’s are both hugely popular dining venues set on the corner of Cape and Woolley streets.

Split by a large bar that runs through the centre of the room, Belluci’s Dickson is a popular and formal dining room that resides on one side of the bar. The extensive menu includes Italian dishes with a modern twist, and is perfect for any occasion ranging from an intimate meal through to birthday celebrations.

On the other side of the bar is Sub-Urban by Belluci’s, known for its entertaining Sunday sessions. This is a beautifully-styled pub catering to a more relaxed experience; perfect for a few drinks while watching sport, listening to live music or relaxing outside in the sunny beer garden. The food on this side is more in the style of a classic bar menu, complimenting the laid-back manner of the patrons.

The drinks list covers both dining areas. A list of cocktails is on offer, and 12 different beers are on tap. An extensive range of local, Australian and international wines are available, and a cellar list is available on request for anyone looking for a special treat.

Similarly, some meals cross over to the dining areas as well. The Chicken Schnitzel with a side of salad and shoestrings fries is a popular meal among the customers and comes with extra tangy gravy providing a unique flavour.

Another popular dish is the Pulled Lamb Shoulder Salad made with pearl couscous, pomegranates, mixed greens and drizzled with minted yoghurt – it is light but fulfilling and has a complex range of flavours to delight the palate.

The Berry Sour cocktail is a sweet and sour treat made with Belvedere Vodka and Chambord shaken with raspberries and sour mix. It brings forth a taste similar to all the good parts of that childhood delight, Warheads, without the cheek-numbing excess. It’s a lot of fun.

Tijuana Lady is another cocktail which restaurant and bar manager Stephen Levsen says is the perfect Summer drink. Made from tequila muddled with passionfruit, orange and Passoa (passionfruit liquor) and finished with a cranberry float.

You can’t miss the desserts – especially the Peanut Butter Sandwich. This is a great choice for a sweet tooth. Set on hot caramel fudge, the base of a chocolate biscuit with a parfait centre is stacked with a creamy chocolate gelato and a finish of pistachio pieces.

This venue can be visited for a range of reasons. Dine in the restaurant or relax in the lounge area – which features a fireplace. It’s a central spot for a catch up with friends during the day or even a great place to watch the Grand Final or mingle after the Canberra Races.

Sub-Urban also has a range of events happening every day including the Ladies’ Picnic every Sunday and 7 at 7 every ($7 cocktails at 7:00pm) every Saturday. Click here for a full list of the weekly happenings.

So, if you are looking for a venue that suits everyone’s needs – be it for a relaxed afternoon or significant celebration – Suburban by Belluci’s and Belluci’s Dickson offer the perfect option no matter what your mood.
