To have two long weekends in a row is a great treat. Why not make the most of the second of these by enjoying a day in the sun at Lerida Estate Winery?

It’s a fantastic drive up the Federal Highway to Lake George, and the team at Lerida has filled all three days with activities. No matter if it’s a brief stop-in for a break, or a full day taking in the many options to relax and enjoy, there is something here for everyone.

We can imagine starting the day with a delicious espresso coffee to get the blood pumping and the palate open. After the caffeine hit, why not take the Vineyard and Winery Tour with Lerida’s owner, Jim, to discover how some of the best pinot noirs in the region are made – all the way from the vine to the bottle. Bookings are recommended.

Café Lerida will be open all weekend, offering a fantastic lunch from their spring menu (link to brochure page). There’s pétanque (great for those whom a glass or two of wine brings out a competitive edge) or the self-guided Lake George Vineyards walk to get the blood moving after lunch.

Not that you’re compelled to be active at all. There’s nothing like kicking back in one of the comfy lounge chairs and simply taking in the sweeping views of Lake George with a glass of wine.

Speaking of Lerida Estate’s wines, the team has been on a roll of late, collecting 11 awards at this year’s Canberra Regional Wine Show. The Lerida Estate Botrytis Pinot Gris took home the Top Gold medal, making that the 43rd award this style of wine has collected in six vintages. Impressive stuff, and the perfect way to finish off a meal!

It gets tastier – with Lerida Estate is offering a special deal across a number of their varieties -a bonus bottle for every six purchased. That’s almost too good to refuse, especially for wines of such quality that are made so close to Canberra.

As a special treat, on Sunday, guests can listen to the live music. Well-known Canberra musician, Ross Clarke, plays favourite classical and jazz pieces from his extensive repertoire. Ross is the perfect accompaniment to tasting fabulous wine and food in the country, and you’ll want to settle in for the afternoon as the music wafts down towards the lake.

They’re open all weekend! The Cellar Door and Café Lerida open Saturday, Sunday & Monday 10.00am-5.00pm
