Canberran designers Jon Shirley and Rohan Thomas launched the brand in 2009 after initially creating some printed shirts for a festival.
“We created the brand as a bit of fun, and it just kind of stuck,” says Shirley.
“We could see it had potential and we really enjoyed creating designs and ultimately developing the brand to where it is today.”
E4 Clothing started as a men’s brand, with T-shirts and hoodies, and has now expanded to include women’s T-shirts, with plans for further developments to the range. The latest addition is the simple yet stylish Traction Zip hoodie, just in time for Winter.
The duo describe the brand as ‘bold, sophisticated, stylish and fresh’, with something for everyone.
Everything in the line is designed and printed right here in Canberra, with all items made to order.
“There aren’t enough local brands,” says Shirley.
“Some try to make themselves not look like they’re from Canberra. That’s not us – it’s not what we wanted to do.”
What makes the brand really stand out is their use of eco-friendly products, and only making each item ‘fresh to order’ to cut down on wastage.
“We only source the best quality products, and our wastage is zero” says Thomas.
“Our printing method allows us to provide an eco-friendly alternative, with no harsh chemicals used in the process,” adds Shirley.
