Over the last few years, Canberra’s Street art scene has flourished thanks to a talented crew of painters and designers, as well as the transition of illegal graffiti to a valid and valued form of expression.

The progression reaches a climax this weekend with a great ‘pARTy’ in Tocumwal Lane. Located just off Bunda Street (behind Blades) it’s an area that has long-been ready for makeover.

Tocumwal Lane was already busy on Sunday as the background and high pieces were laid down prior to the big weekend ahead. Local painters Geoff Filmer, Byrd, Stylized Impact and George Rose were busy starting part of what will become an all-encompassing landscape filled with superheroes, villains and sci-fi-geekness. Once it’s all done, you’ll need able to spin around 360 degrees to take it all in…

The hard work really starts this Sunday 29 March from 11.00am as over a dozen of Canberra’s best street artists get to work along with DJs to really set the mood. It’s an event designed to involve everyone who attends, with canvases available to try your hand at painting.

Beach Burritos and London Burgers and Beers are also getting behind the project with a heap of food available. It’s going to be a great day, with so many of our best street artists getting together to celebrate superheroes and our city. Make sure you don’t miss out!
