The search for the Myer Face of Canberra Racing is on again, with entries now open. So do you have what it takes?
2010 Face of Canberra Racing winner Aprelle Coady says it takes something unique to make you stand out from the crowd.
“You need something that someone else doesn’t have. Loving horses also helps, and loving fashion plays a huge role,” she says.
“Just highlight the complete package that makes you you”
Aprelle has held the title for the past year, and found the experience invaluable.
“I met a lot of different people, and it’s really broadened my horizons career-wise,” she says.
“It can be a lot of fun if you want it to be. It’s a fantastic opportunity if you put your heart into it. Be passionate and enjoy it.”
With fashion playing a major role in the competition, finding the perfect frock can be a challenge. As an experienced race-goer, Aprelle has found some of her favourite outfits at chain stores, and likes to mix and match pieces.
“I find a lot of good stuff at Cue,” she says.
“I’ve also bought a couple of things from Review and Veronica Maine.”
With the racing season upon us, Aprelle’s looking forward to once again getting dressed up, particularly with this year’s black and white theme.
Her style tip is to be elegant, classy and dress appropriately for the day.
“Be prepared for a fun day and take back up shoes in your little clutch if yours are uncomfortable.”
And while last year she went to the races vying for the title of Face of Canberra Racing, she’s wishing for something much simpler this year.
“I’m just hoping that this year it’s not going to rain!”
