T-Heinrich launches with bling

by Natalie Tsirimokos 13 July 2009

Brights, tafetta, chains and high embelishments- these are all materials that put together, could equate to a drag queen's Friday night get-up. But Canberra designer Janette Lenk has found away to coordinate the OTT things she loves into one of a kind, wearable, statement peices.

"I like texture and things that 'POP', contrast, expression," Jannette said of her label, T-Heinrich.

The new range launched last Friday night at Kremlin Bar, where a string of models strutted the wears down a small runway set up. A chocolate fountain and roving magicians added a theatrical element to the evening.

But proceeds from this event, did not go into the talented designer's sequined purse, instead the event's revenue was in support of sending T-Heinrich to showcase at Fashion Expose, Melbourne's premier event for up and coming designers.

These may be creative jobs for a public servent with no formal fashion traning, but Janette is determined not to let anything get in the way of persuing her true passion.

"I have always been into fashion, making clothes or costumes for friends. It was one day when one of my good friends asked me if she could buy a singlet off me that I began to dream of all the possibilities. I always wanted my very own label, and one day I just did it.... I thought this could work.

Janette uses a range of materials including one of a kind vintage fabrics to give her peices a dramatic edge.

"I make new pieces every week its an ongoing process. I have about 30 pieces, including jewellery."

T-Heinrich is available now from Itrip Iskip and ranges from $15 - $80. See in store for details.
