Cirque du Soleil is known for bringing wonder and delight to it’s audiences… and that, it did.

We attended the latest Cirque du Soleil production,QUIDAM, at the AIS Arena this week and experienced such fantastic talent that had us entertained beyond the hours before our eyes. A production put together so great, not one flaw in sight.

The Story
A Young Girl’s Escape into Imagination
For Young Zoé, life has lost all meaning. Her parents, distant and apathetic, ignore her. Seeking to fill the void of her existence, she slides into an imaginary world where she learns to free her soul. Quidam, is a place for dreaming and genuine relations, where by proclaiming individuality, all may emerge from anonymity…

The top 3 standout performances for us were:

1. German Wheel
Encircled within a large metal hoop, the artist spins, turns, twists and manoeuvres the wheel, performing gravity-defying somersaults and acrobatics.

This was something I had never ever seen before. The artist had an incredible ability to make it look so effortless and at many times the impossible was certainly achieved!

2. Aerial Contortion in Silk
In the Aerial Silk act, the artist performs aerial acrobatics while suspended from a long, silk band of fabric. While incorporating contortion in her act, the artist manipulates the fabric to wrap, swing and spiral herself into and out of various intricate positions, creating graceful and harmonious figures.

Manipulating the fabric is one way to describe this unbelievable performance. Another is pure mind-boggling amazing talent! The contortionist was quick with her moves, and had the entire audience’s attention captured in her performance from the moment she fell from the roof unannounced. We we’re in awe of this beautiful, yet strong performance.

3. Aerial Hoops
In hoops suspended above the stage, the performers pivot and twirl through the air, at times solo and at times in unison, performing stunning feats of grace and dexterity.

It’s easy to trust one person, a partner perhaps. Imagine having to trust two people, and then they trusting you and another at the same time… As soon as these artists came rolling, twirling, climbing and slithering out in one hoop together, we were stunned. The ability to work at such heights, together and again, effortlessly, while the hoop was moving above the stage was absolutely breathtaking.
