Canberra’s newest and most exciting event, Oh Happy Day! is finally here. Well, it’s on Saturday, 24 October at the National Portrait Gallery – so make sure you tell all your friends and pen it in your diaries.

Tell us about Oh Happy Day!

Oh Happy Day is designed to help and inspire anyone interested in planning a beautiful celebration, be it a wedding, birthday, anniversary, baby shower, kids party – any special gathering!

What was the inspiration behind the new venture?

Oh Happy Day has been a fun collaboration between myself (Hustle&Scout) and Julie Nichols and Rachel Evagelou (Handmade Canberra). Jules, Rach and I share a mutual love for hosting beautiful events, so we wanted to create one ourselves which would help to inspire others thinking of planning a special gathering. We have noticed that people are really going that extra mile these days when it comes to hosting their own special gatherings, and not just weddings either. Nowadays, there is a real art to celebrating – the details really count!

Oh Happy Day will be like a real-life Pinterest Board, a platform for gathering inspiration and piecing together the different components of what could take your next event to a new level!

Are the Vendors local Canberra businesses or interstate as well?

Our vendors are local! This will be a celebration of Canberra’s best events specialists. Luckily, many of them travel interstate for their work (and some internationally), so party planners don’t need to be organising their event in Canberra to get the most out of Oh Happy Day.

The VIP Gala Dinner is being held after the very first Oh Happy Day! event during the day. Tell us about it.

For our inaugural Oh Happy Day event, we wanted to dress up and throw a celebration ourselves… and so a Gala Dinner was born! Lucky ticket holders will be treated to champagne and wine all evening, canapes on arrival, a four course degustation menu and dessert buffet, live music by Ashley Feraude and a fashion parade with HAUS Models showcasing a range of party and bridal wear. Guests also get a VIP gift bag and exclusive access to the vendors for the hours before and after the dinner. Our long tables will be styled by the teams at Lovely Events and Peony N’Pearl.

The Gala Dinner will be the perfect showcase for those thinking of holding an event at the National Portrait Gallery. The gallery boasts several beautiful event spaces which guests will get a chance to explore during the night. The Trippas White Group, the Gallery’s exclusive caterers, will be taking this opportunity to show-off a special, seasonal menu with a Japanese influence designed especially for the event. The degustation menu is intended to give guests a ‘taste’ of the creativity and variety of meals the TWG chefs could dish-up for your special event.
