by Rahima Saikal 5 September 2012
Calling all lovers of anything pre-owned, pre-loved and pretty cool! Lifeline is proud to present a vintage clothing store, Hipsley Lane.
Hipsley Lane is due to open on Tuesday 18th September on Lonsdale Street in Braddon amongst a collection of new shops. While the store will be specializing in vintage clothing, they will also be carrying a range of vintage books selected by experienced volunteers at the Bookfair Warehouse in Mitchell.
You can be sure to find what you are looking for at Hipsley Lane, or even stumble across a priceless find. All the vintage clothing has been sourced from around the world and the store will also feature an in-house seamstress, ready to tailor any piece of clothing to fit you perfectly.
Behind the doors of Hipsley Lane is Karen Bustamante, Manager of Commercial Enterprises with Lifeline Canberra and previous owner of vintage shop Cowboys & Angels for 13 years.
“We hope to be unique in our offering to customers, but also unique in the fact that all proceeds to directly to our 13 11 14 telephone crisis support service.”
One hundred per cent of the funds raised by Hipsley Lane will go directly to Lifeline Canberra, to ensure their volunteers continue to receive the best training, resources and ongoing support.
Lifeline Canberra is one of 43 Lifeline centres operating across Australia. They provide counseling services through the dedication of more than 200 trained volunteers telephone crisis supporters. Lifeline volunteers ensure that the phones are answered 24 hour a day, 7 days a week.
Once the doors of Hipsley Lane are open, they will concentrate on taking the store online as well.
