Event cancelled. Due to wet weather and for safety reasons this evening’s ‘Lighting of the Christmas Tree’ event in Civic Square has been cancelled. The Act Government apologise for any inconvenience.

Christmas festivities are sure to entertain the entire family with the official start of the festive season at the Lighting of the Christmas Tree in Civic Square, from 7pm on Friday 3 December.

Christmas cheer will flood Civic Square with fabulous entertainment, including popular children’s performer and Play School favourite Justine Clark, A Bunch of Posers featuring Mrs Claus and her Angelic Angels, and a special visit by Santa Claus himself!

Come nightfall, the crowd will witness Canberra’s spectacular 21 metre high Christmas tree being lit. Each of the tree’s LED lights will be powered by ActewAGL’s Green Choice program.

Families can bring their own picnic or purchase food and drink on site. You are advised to bring along your own chair or picnic rug.

The Lighting of the Christmas Tree is proudly brought to you by the ACT Government, with generous support from ActewAGL, Prime Television, Mix 106.3 and
