Knave and Fables was started in early 2012 by siblings Danielle and Jonathan Day. Danielle is the designer, having studied silversmithing and computer aided design and Jonathan is the marketer, having completed a degree in marketing and international business.

The sibling duo designed Knave and Fables with a focus on economic sustainability. Knave and Fables exercises a low-waste business practice, with made-to-order only sales through their website.
