It’s official. Winter is here!

If you hadn’t already reached for the gloves and scarf this year, there will be plenty of opportunities ahead of you as we head into the cooler months. Sure, winter isn’t as much fun as summer, but every cloud has a silver lining… especially those filled with snow.

This weekend marks the official start to the snow season and it looks like it’s going to be a good one. That’s not only because this weekend is a long weekend (hooray for that!), but because the snow is already falling, and the resorts across the Australian Alpine region are excited about a season that may even break last year’s records.

Thredbo has long been a focus for snow-bunnies from all over Australia. With a massive collection of lifts and ski fields, and the bustling Thredbo village nestled perfectly within the valley, it’s the perfect option for all budgets and abilities.

Across the entire weekend there is plenty going on, but get excited for Saturday night. Perth’s electronic trio, Crooked Colours, are heading poolside for the Rekorderlig Sounds In the Snow as just one part of the celebrations.

Sydney outfit, The Preatures, has had an amazing 12 months, and will be turning it on at the Corona Village Concert Series. They’ve gone from strength-to-strength since releasing their full-length album, Blue Planet Eyes and, with a string of hits under their belts will bring a huge amount of energy to the stage. Sydney’s up-and-coming rockers Red Wine Roses are supporting The Preatures, and they’re definitely one to keep an eye on.

There’s action on the snow as well! Australian Olympic medallist, Torah Bright, will be hitting the slopes all weekend to offer encouragement to those who are taking their tentative first steps onto the crisp, white powder.
