Girls’ Night Out was last Friday night at Academy, and the headline act was the gorgeous Havana Brown. Since the release of her debut single We Run the Night, the talented DJ has added ‘singer’ and ‘dancer’ to her professional title while well as making waves across Australia and the US.

Havana has brought her decks on tour with superstars such as Britney Spears, Rihanna and Lady Gaga, and to played alongside Beyoncé and The Black Eyed Peas at Singapore’s F1 Grand Prix. No wonder the club was packed by 11.00pm! All her fans (including many males, given the nights theme!) were anticipating a very entertaining and energy filled set.

The ‘Girls’ Night Out’ was supported by a line-up of all female DJs – Jade, Ashlee Mckenzie and Tali who all played a selection of the ever popular RnB and Hip Hop in the upstairs Candy Bar, and delivered Club Bangers downstairs to get everyone in party mode.

By 1.00am, Academy was going crazy with everyone finding their way to a great spot on the dance floor in anticipation of Havana. Ms Brown did not disappoint, starting her set with a fist-pumping tune and greeting the crowd with her trademark jump-up-on-the-decks and shout-out into the microphone.

She wore a pair of nude peep-toe heels (for height I am sure – she is tiny!), ripped boyfriend jeans, a crop tee and her signature bandana. Trust me to take notice of her outfit!

Havana’s set turned into a mini-show with her interacting with the crowd as she sang, We Run the Night, You’ll Be Mine and her latest, Warrior. A selection of other hits and party favourites were thrown in her mix and the crowd stayed dancing away long after her set finished.

A great night was had by all and made I am so pumped for the next gig. I kind of want to become a DJ now… so much fun!
