What makes wines at Mount Majura special?
We make wine only from our own vineyard, and we want it to be distinctive. The red soil and limestone give deeply coloured reds with some really good ‘grainy’ tannin and powerful fruit flavours to match. Tempranillo is our specialty variety that does really well.

What interests you the most about wine and its ‘making’ processes?
It’s a centuries-old craft and you rely on your nose and palate and experience, but at the same time, there is a lot of science and technology applied so that we’re constantly learning.

Describe your approach to winemaking
Start by planting the right variety in the right place, optimise the growth of the vine to produce the best quality fruit in harmony with the environment, and the rest follows naturally.

What Mount Majura wine do you recommend?
A friend just told me how much he enjoyed our Shiraz while watching the sun set on top of Mt Twynam. That’s hard to beat.
