Last year’s FashFest laid out a pretty clear purpose – to promote Canberra fashion across our city and beyond. With Annelise Schubert as the 2013 Face of Fashfest, the team was able to bring one of Canberra’s highest-profile models in to not only raise the profile of the event, but to advise and guide young designers and models making their way into the industry.
It’s great to see this become a newly established tradition, with last night’s announcement of the 2014 Face of FashFest, Belinda Riding. Another graduate of the Canberra modeling scene of the late-Eighties, Belinda was spotted early at a Canberra Theatre model call, before finding herself working in Paris only a few years later.
Belinda was lucky to work with some of the best magazines, stylists and labels – including French Elle, Marie Claire, Votre Beaute, Cosmopolitan, German Vogue, Grazia, L’Officiel and Le Figaro. As a model, she has worked with top designers, fashion and beauty houses, including Chanel, Hermes, Lancôme, Comme des Garcons, Azzedine Alaia, Sonja Rykiel, Jean-Charles Castlebeljac, Chantal Thomas, and Missoni.
Living the dream career has taken her to exotic location shoots across the globe—Tunisia, Marrakech, St Barts, Corsica, Cannes, St Tropez, Thailand, New Mexico and Munich—to work with the industry’s most talented fashion photographers.
These days Belinda lives in Canberra, after a long stint in New York with her husband, and runs her own online retail business. It’s fantastic to know that from 30 April to 3 May, Belinda is stepping out for Fashfest 2014! Tickets will be available for purchase from Wednesday 5 March at www.fashfest.com.au
