New performance collective Autumnal are returning home to present their new dance work, Exciting a Blush.

Five individuals intersect in moments of heightened self-awareness where bodies can betray their keepers by unintentionally broadcasting internal emotions. Examining what we think of what others think of us, why we care, and why on earth that should affect the capillaries in our cheeks, Exciting a
Blush explores the physiology and psychology behind the most peculiar of human expressions, the blush.

Capturing moments of awkwardness, modesty, social blunders and sexual awakenings amidst brand new dance and music, this dance theatre work is Autumnal’s debut.

Originating from Canberra, Autumnal members are now carving out their place in Australia’s artistic landscape. Emerging as some of Australia’s most exciting new dance artists having performed, collaborated and toured for the likes of Buzz Dance Theatre, Tasdance, Shaun Parker, Lucy Guerin, Clare Dyson, Anton, and Narrelle Benjamin, as well as undertaking their own creative endeavours through both local and international residencies.

Exciting a Blush marks the return of these artists to Canberra, where their careers were ignited and kick started through QL2’s Quantum Leap and Soft Landing initiatives.

Autumnal’s ties to Canberra as a home place, training place, and arts place, have brought them back to share with the community their talent and creative vision, as they proudly return home to make their debut.
