In its second year, the Jester Ball will transform the Albert Hall on Friday 21st November, into a playground of art, swishing skirts, debauchery and whacky masked brilliance.

With the addition of Little Dove Theatre Art and ‘fashion’ to the Jester Ball line up, the evening promises to showcase a plethora of fresh talent and wearable eye candy – never before seen.

Five young Canberran designers will be unveiling their new designs on the night, all inspired by the concept of love and the Little Dove Theatre Art.

“I think that the addition of fashion to the Jester Ball is going to bring a new and unique dimension to it,’ said Eline Martinsen, local designer.

“As designers, the other girls and I work from a more artistic perspective than a trend based one, so The Jester Ball suits us quite well.”

Eline has previously created seductive costumes and corsetry for Jester Ball performers at other events, such as Min Mae’s Tableaux Vivants and the 2008 Fringe Festival.

“This is the first time we’re displaying our work in this context; in the form of a parade, rather than a performance piece.”

Eline’s new collection, ‘Bed of Roses,’ features the blossoming, blooming and wilting of a rose as metaphors for the experiences of love.

“Love is quite an abstract concept and a difficult starting place when it comes to designing, which is why I have used the rose as a metaphor. The layering and folding of panels within the garments is evocative of the petals of a rose, as they unfurl.”

The evening will also feature designs by Danielle Killick, Emma Knieriem, Amelia Thompson and Eleanor Kirkham; with all designs available for order/purchase at the event.

In addition to darling designs, the event will be host to folk fused afro beats of The Andi & George Band, Trevor Brown and Lloyd Allison-Young, with performances by Little Dove Theatre Art, The Magnificent Liberte Belle and Min Mae’s Tableaux Mouvant.

Fashionistas, dreamers, dancers, lovers and curious souls should buy their tickets now to avoid missing out.

Tickets are $35 from Landspeed Records and The Front Gallery & Cafe.
