Amid a concrete jungle in Canberra city there is a perfect haven to enjoy a drink and a bite to eat. Treehouse Bar, a relaxed lunch venue by day and classy dinner and drinks destination by night, provides a sanctuary to escape and enjoy good food and company.

Decorated in dark woody tones, cascading vines and copper light pendants, the space has an earthy and cosy atmosphere. Tree trunks reach toward the high roof and the glow of the fairy lights that adorn the tree branches give an enchanting warmth to the bar.

Ascend up the stairs and you’ll find yourself in a comfortable lounge area with dark leather seating and tree-trunk tables. With its own bar, the upstairs is well suited to group gatherings and functions.

The menu offers a mouth-watering selection of light bites, from French fries with mustard seed aioli to mac and cheese jaffles, as well as a selection of wood-fired pizzas and inventive burgers.

The Tandoori Battered Prawns on the light bites menu is a sensational choice. Presented as a tumbling tower of golden morsels, each crunchy bite of these succulent beer-battered prawns bursts with a delicious tandoori flavour. A kafir lime tzatziki brings a citrus dimension to the dish, and refreshingly offsets the warming tandoori spice of the prawns.

With a crisp base that’s been kissed by wood-fired flames, and beautifully soft and fluffy edges, a Treehouse pizza is not to be missed. The Grilled Chicken Pizza in particular is a standout. Every bite is a medley of succulent grilled chicken, rich and meaty BBQ sauce and salty bacon, offset by the sweet and juicy caramelised onion and smooth mozzarella, that melts deliciously over the top. The crispy bacon provides a crunchy texture against the oozing mozzarella, and keeps you coming back for more.

If a heartier option is what you’re after, don’t look past the burger selection. The Double Beef Burger has the works – a perfect balance of salty and sweet, this burger is not for the feint hearted. Moist beef patties is layered with sweet juicy charred pineapple, crispy bacon, a fried egg, Swiss cheese and sweet caramelised onion, all brought together with a tangy mustard and a rich, creamy aioli. If there is still room after this epic burger, the chips and aioli served as the side are delectably more-ish.

Indulge in the Sticky Date Pudding for dessert. This revitalised classic is presented as a gravity-defying tower of warm sticky date cake and vanilla ice-ream. Drizzled with a warm calvados butterscotch sauce, this dessert is the perfect balance of moist date cake, silky ice-cream and sweetness.

A number of meal deals are an option throughout the week, including 2 for 1 burgers on Thursday evenings and 2 for 1 pizzas on Friday evenings. Flavourful food and a cosy vibe make Treehouse the perfect destination to relax and enjoy great dining and company in the middle of the city.
